flashback arrestor & oxyset testing and maintenance

Wear and Tear

Due to the nature of the job oxy sets perform, and the environment they are in, they are often subjected to damage and severe wear and tear.
Even during normal use, components wear and require periodic testing and replacement.
This is why there is a requirement for regular testing and maintenance to keep equipment safe and operating correctly.

AS 4603: 3.3 – Periodic Testing

Testing on flashback arrestors in service shall be carried out at a minimum interval of 12 months.

AS 4839: Table 1 – Guidance on Maintenance

Calls for periodic inspection and maintenance on all portable and mobile oxy-fuel gas systems every 6 & 12 months.

List of equipment tested and what we are looking at during testing

All flashback arrestor testing will be done on an IBEDA flashback arrestor testing machine to the requirements of AS 4603

In accordance with the relevant flashback arrestor standard, testing will be done for, Through Flow, Reverse Flow and Leak Tightness, we will also be inspecting the labeling of the flashback arrestor for compliance.

Note: All brands or types of flashback arrestor that do not meet the relevant standards will be rejected, as will torch end “Flashguards” and non return valves on their own.
Only brands and models of arrestor that we can confirm are approved for testing by IBEDA will be tested and approved.

We will supply you with a written report on all flashback arrestors and oxysets tested

At the completion of testing of either the flashback arrestors themselves, or the oxy/fuel gas set, you will receive a written report for each detailing the condition of the equipment.
The reports will clearly show either a “Pass” or “Fail” for each component with a recommendation of the action required.
We will then confirm the parts that failed the testing and inspection with you before proceeding.
All equipment that fails testing will be replaced exclusively by Oxyset Services with equipment of similar or higher quality, depending on the customers preference.

Note: All parts that fail testing will be rendered inoperable so they cannot be used again and disposed of or recycled.
